The terms, in plain language.

StandardDICOM
The standard format and protocol for medical images and their metadata.
StandardHL7
A family of standards for exchanging clinical and administrative messages between systems. Version 2 is still widely used.
StandardFHIR
A web-API standard that exposes health data as resources such as patients, orders and reports.
SystemPACS
Picture Archiving and Communication System. Stores and displays medical images for radiologists.
SystemRIS
Radiology Information System. Manages orders, scheduling and reports for the radiology department.
SystemEHR
Electronic Health Record. The patient record used across a provider organization.
WorkflowWorklist
The queue of studies a radiologist has to read.
ImagingModality
A type of imaging equipment or study, such as CT, MR or X-ray.
WorkflowAI result image
An image produced by an AI system, such as one with a marked region, returned to the PACS for review. It supports the radiologist and does not replace the reading.
QualityValidation
Testing a tool on local data to confirm it behaves acceptably before clinical use.
ComplianceHIPAA
U.S. law setting privacy and security requirements for protected health information.
ComplianceBAA
Business Associate Agreement. A contract required when a vendor handles protected health information for a covered entity.
RegulatoryFDA clearance
A U.S. FDA decision allowing a device to be marketed for a stated intended use. Clearance, approval and authorization are different pathways.
ImagingStudy
A set of images from one exam, with its series and metadata.
